Location

O'Hara Fine Instruments is located in the historic Juengst Manufacturing Company building, built in the 1890s. The original use of the building was a printing press that ran on hydro power.

When arriving to O'Hara Fine Instruments, there will be a small one lane wooden bridge to cross. We are located in the main brick building. The red door with the violin arrow over it.

When visiting, there are many lovely walking trails and bike trails close by. As well as apple farms. If planning an entire day trip around visiting our shop, you are more than welcome to leave your gear here while going for a hike or out to lunch. Please ask about our local recommendations.

Shop Policies for Repairs

As of June 1st 2024, we have started to do estimates via Quickbooks. For work beyond a soundpost adjustment, bridge work, or seams, etc general maintenance; we require approved estimates. This saves us additional office hours.

If your instrument is in for restoration or top off repairs, and we encounter more work that needs to be completed, we will call to discuss any additional work, update the estimate, and wait for approval. This precise record keeping gives us more hours at the bench, which we love!

Shop Policies on Consignments

To consign your instrument here for sale, we have some strict policies.

Consignments last per year. If your bass does not sell within the first year of being consigned at our location, we will call to discuss next steps. Which may be collecting the items, lower the price, or simply renewing the consignment agreement.

To match the look of our website, we take professional in house photos for our website. If the bass does not sell, or is collected, we charge $150 fee for the photos. If the bass is purchased, the fees are waived.

While consigned, your items will be insured in our shop policy, legally they must be. If your items sell, there is no additional fee upon collection. if your items do not sell but cost less than 30k, no additional fees. If your items do not sell and are above 30k, there will be an additional fee to offset the insurance covered on the items while in our care.

While your items are here, we will maintain them. For example, open seams, or other maintenance. Before doing anything, we will send and email with the needed work. We can send supporting photos or zoom calls. We will not do any work without approval. If your items are purchased, small repair fees will be waived. If not, depending on the time invested maintaining the items, there might be an invoice. But everything would have been discussed and agreed upon.

If a potential seller decides they want to purchase the bass, we cannot conclude the sale without a phone call discussing all the terms, and a follow up email summarizing the conversation, with a response giving confirmation that we may proceed with the sale. After having your expressed permission to complete the sale, we will collect payment from the buyer. When their funds clear, we pay you for your items. We prefer to wire funds as it is fast and safe. If you do not wish to have us have your sensitive information on file, one of us can call you from the bank and you can speak directly with the banker handling the transaction. If a mailed check is insisted upon, please contact within 2 weeks if the payment is not received.
